For the Beauty of the Earth

There are times that I've looked around this city, and all I can see is the red dust that covers every surface. The stench of garbage and refuse hits me like a brick wall when I step out of the compound. The city I live in is overpopulated and people you do see aren't the ones sitting in their comfortable homes, they're the ones by the side of the street. The people who haven't showered in who knows how long. They are the polio twisted bodies who stay in the same place day after day while life moves around them in a never ending swarm.

At times, when I see the picture as a whole, I think, 'what a dirty place this is.' The truth is, there is beauty all around, I've just been too blinded by the things that are new or different to notice the little things.

The beauty here is in the small things...in God's handiwork. It is the vibrant colors found in nature. The beautiful designs of so many different kinds of plants and flowers. Who could have even thought up the many different designs on their own

We have an amazing Creator...One who also delights in the beauty of the earth!

For the beauty of the Earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth,
Over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our hum of grateful praise!
For the beauty of each hour
If the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light;
Lord of all to thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise!
For the joy of ear and eye,
For the heart and mind's delight,
For the mystic harmony,
Linking sense to sound and sight;
Lord of all to thee we raise, this our hymn of grateful praise!
For Thyself, best Gift Divine,
To the World so freely given,
For that great, great love of thine,
Peace on earth, and joy in heaven;

LORD OF ALL, TO THEE WE RAISE
THIS OUR HYMN OF GRATEFUL PRAISE!
